  • WHY CHRISTMAS IS CELEBRATED?

    WHY CHRISTMAS IS CELEBRATED?

Christmas: And when we hear the word Christmas, scenes of happiness, snowflakes, decorated trees, and present boxes wrapped in love immediately flood our minds. But there is something more profound, a deeper cosmic and spiritual reason for Christmas—a reason that transcends religion and unites humanity through divine symbolism.

In this fascinating article by Astroeshop, we delve into why Christmas is being commemorated not only from a Biblical context, but also from an astrological, spiritual, and universal context. You’ll find the lost meaning in the date, the cosmic aspects, and how Christmas energy can be correlated with your spiritual aspirations.

Let’s dig deeper than the materialised perception of this international celebration and reclaim the divine force of December 25th.

    Christmas

    What Is Christmas?

    The Traditional View

Christmas, celebrated on December 25th, marks the birth of Jesus Christ, the Messiah and focal point of Christianity. Born in modest circumstances in Bethlehem, his life, teachings, and resurrection formed the very essence of Christian belief.

But here’s the fascinating fact: Jesus’ actual birthday is not known, and December 25 was posthumously designated centuries later by Roman officials, not for historical accuracy, but symbolic convergence with already established winter celebrations and celestial changes.

Winter Solstice and the Return of the Light

December 25 – A Date Based on Celestial Rhythm

One of the most convincing arguments why Christmas is celebrated on December 25 is owing to the Winter Solstice, the shortest day and longest night of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. Falling somewhere between December 21–23, this moment was reckoned by ancient civilisations as the death and rebirth of the Sun.

On Christmas Day, December 25, the Sun seems to “stand still” and then slowly starts climbing in the sky, extending days and light. It was regarded as a cosmic resurrection of divine power—a new cycle of life, plenty, and spiritual reawakening.

    Several ancient festivals such as:

    • Saturnalia (Roman)
    • Yule (Germanic tribes)
    • Dongzhi (Chinese)

We were all part of this transition. Early Christians, realising the divinity of the date, combined it with the birth of Christ, depicting light born in darkness.

    Astrological View of Christmas

    Cosmic Energies in Action

Astrologically, the time of Christmas is of tremendous planetary and energetic importance.

The Sun moves into Capricorn (Makara Rashi), signified by Saturn (Shani), which represents discipline, order, and long-term karma.

Capricorn represents stability, maturity, and spiritual responsibility—qualities reflected in the life and teachings of Jesus.

The constellation of Virgo, symbolic of the Divine Feminine or Virgin Mother, is often highlighted in Christian imagery, aligning with the idea of Mother Mary and the birth of divine consciousness.

Thus, Christmas marks a cosmic rebirth, where the light within is reborn amidst darkness.

    Spiritual Interpretation of Christmas

    Birth of the Inner Christ

Christmas is not merely about outward celebration; it’s a metaphor for the spiritual.

Jesus Christ is the symbol of the divine spark within every individual, part of our soul that adheres to universal truth, sympathy, and higher consciousness. On December 25, we honour not only a birth 2000 years before, but also the possibility of enlightenment in our very self.

“Christ is born in the heart of anyone who surrenders to divine wisdom.”

By meditating, serving others, and embracing love at this time, we cultivate our inner Christ energy.

Symbols of Christmas and Their Deeper Meaning

Tree, Star, Gifts – A Vedic Interpretation

Christmas Tree: A symbol of eternal life that remains green throughout the year, much like the Kalpavriksha (wish-granting tree) of Hinduism.

Star on Top: Symbolising the cosmic light or the North Star, leading searchers to the truth, just like the Dhruva Tara in Vedic mythology.

Gifts: Symbolise plenty, thankfulness, and dharma (righteous giving). Sanatan Dharma charity (daan) on auspicious dates increases karmic merit.

Even Santa Claus, when divested of his advertisement image, is like a yogic figure dispensing karma-gained rewards, somewhat similar to Lord Kubera, the Vedic god of prosperity.

How to Celebrate Christmas Spiritually in 2021

5 Powerful Ways to Align with Divine & Powerful Energy

Light a Diya, Camphor, Lamps or Candles: Welcome the return of light around and within you.

Chant Divine & powerful Names: Repeat mantras or affirmations like “Om Christave Namah” or “Om Shreem Hreem Kleem” to synchronise with divine energies.

Perform Seva (Selfless/Unconditional Service): Feed the poor, help someone who needs it. It opens your heart chakra and welcomes blessings.

Meditate in the Morning: Dawn behind the Christmas represents the resurrection of the mind. Just 15 minutes are enough to rewire your mind.

Use Astroeshop’s Christmas Special Kit: Includes a sacred candle, incense to balance chakras, and a prayer card for inner awakening.

Christmas and Sanatan Dharma – A Harmonious Connection

Spiritual festivals have to be divided by religion, many think. But actually, all sacred celebrations are cosmic in origin.

Christmas, when celebrated in consciousness, harmonises hand in hand with Vedic principles:

    • The Gita refers to divine incarnations who were born in periods of adharma.
    • The idea of Narayan and Christ Consciousness is essentially the same.
    • Yogis throughout India have revered Jesus as an awakened soul, such as Paramhansa Yogananda, who referred to Jesus as a “Yogi of the East.”

So Christmas is neither a Western nor an Eastern phenomenon; it’s a universal invitation to bring forth divine love.

This sleep of mine will be called hypersleep and the end of deep sleep. This sleep will be very pleasant for my devotees. At this time, I will sit with you in the house of my devotees who will serve me with a sense of my sleep and organize a bedtime party and lift with joy.

    Govardhan Puja Story / History

There is a story behind celebrating Govardhan Puja and according to this legend, Lord Krishna had advised people to do Govardhan Puja. It is said that one day when Krishna’s mother Yashoda was preparing to worship Lord Indra, at that time Krishna Ji asked her mother, why is she worshiping Lord Indra? In response to this question of Krishna Ji, his mother told him that all the villagers and are worshiping Lord Indra Ji so that it can rain in their village. Due to the rains, crops and grass will be produced well in their village and due to this, the cows will get fodder to eat. On the other hand, listening to his mother, Kanha immediately said that if this is the case then we should worship Govardhan Parvat instead of Lord Indra. Because only by going to this mountain, the cows get grass to eat. This effect of Krishna Ji affected his mother as well as the people of Braj and the people of Braj started worshiping Govardhan Parvat instead of worshiping Indra Dev.

On the other hand, Lord Indra got angry on seeing the people of Braj worshiping Govardhan and he started raining heavily in anger. Due to heavy rains, the people of the village started facing a lot of trouble and these people went to Lord Krishna to ask for help. At the same time, due to continuous heavy rain, water started filling in people’s homes and they were not getting any place to hide their heads. To protect the people of his village from the rain, Lord Krishna lifted the Govardhan mountain with his little finger, after which the Brajwasis stood under this mountain. God had raised this mountain for a week. At the same time, when Indra Dev came to know that Krishna Ji is the form of Lord Vishnu, he realized his mistake and stopped the rain. After the rain stopped, Krishna Ji put the mountain down and he ordered the people of his village to celebrate Govardhan Puja every year, after which this festival started being celebrated every year.

CHHATH PUJA 2021, CELEBRATE IN THIS WAY TO PLEASE CHHATH MATA.

CHHATH PUJA 2021 CELEBRATE IN THIS WAY TO PLEASE CHHATH MATA

Chhath Puja is a cultural festival in which the devotees worship the Sun for the happiness and prosperity of the family. Chhath Puja is a very ancient festival of Hinduism, dedicated to the God of Energy who is also known as Surya or Surya Shashthi. Being an omnipresent natural force, the Sun has been worshiped since time immemorial. There are many mantras in the Gveda in praise of the Sun. You already know that Danveer Karna was a great worshiper of Surya. The legends also say that Draupadi, in her exile, had worshiped the Pandavas for the well-being of the family in the same manner as is now done in Chhath.

Chhath Puja is a famous festival celebrated mainly in Eastern India. This fast, which is prevalent in Bihar, is now being celebrated all over India as well as in Nepal. Men and women celebrate this festival equally and pray to Chhath Maiya for family happiness, prosperity, and desired results. Many people observe this fast even after their vow is fulfilled and keep this fast for life or as long as possible.

There is no need for a pandit in this four-day festival. You have to do the pooja yourself and from relatives to close neighbors join in to help in this difficult puja. That is, those who do not do Chhath also become a part of the fast by becoming a participant in the activities of the fast.

Anyone can observe Chhath fast. This is the reason that in this festival, along with women, you will also see men becoming fast. The condition of devotion remains that in a state like Bihar, the level of crime is reduced to the lowest during this festival. History and Origin of Chhath Puja

Chhath Puja holds great importance in Hinduism and there is a belief that the old priests were requested by the king (which king) to come and perform the traditional worship of Lord Surya. He worshiped the Sun God by reciting mantras and hymns from the ancient Rigveda. The ancient Chhath Puja was performed by the Pandavas and Draupadi of Hastinapur (New Delhi) to solve their problems and get their kingdom back.
It is also believed that Chhath Puja was started by the son of Surya, Karna. He was a great warrior during the Mahabharata war and was the ruler of Angadesh (Munger district of Bihar).
Chhath Maiya (wife of Lord Surya) is also worshiped on the day of Chhath Puja, also known as Usha in the Vedas. Usha means dawn (the first ray of the day). People pray to Chhathi Maiya to get rid of their troubles as well as to get Moksha or liberation.

The second historical story behind celebrating Chhath Puja is that of Lord Rama. It is believed that after 14 years of exile, Lord Rama and Mother Sita returned to Ayodhya and worshiped Lord Surya in the Shukla Paksha of Kartik month by fasting during the coronation. From that time, Chhath Puja became an important and traditional festival of Hinduism and people started celebrating the same date every year.
    Chhath Puja Story

A long time ago, there was a king named Priyabrata and his wife was Malini. They lived very happily but there was a lot of sadness left in their life that they did not have any children. With the help of Maharishi Kashyap, he decided to perform a huge Yagya for the blessings of having children. Due to the effect of the yajna, his wife became pregnant. But after 9 months she gave birth to a dead child. The king was very sad and decided to commit suicide.

Suddenly a goddess appeared in front of him while committing suicide. The goddess said, I am Goddess sixth and whoever worships me with a pure mind and soul, surely gets a child. King Priyabrata did the same and he was blessed with a beautiful and lovely child by the blessings of the Goddess. Since then people have started celebrating Chhath Puja.

    Significance of Chhath Puja

Chhath Puja has a special significance during sunrise and sunset. Sunrise and sunset times are the most important times of the day during which a human body can safely receive solar energy without any harm. Utpanna Ekadashi 2021

What Is Utpanna Ekadashi 2021? The Rebirth through Devotion

    Timing and Meaning

Utpanna Ekadashi occurs on the 11th day of the waxing moon in the month of Margashirsha (November–December). Utpanna Ekadashi will be on December 3, 2021, which falls on Friday.

The term “Utpanna” literally means “risen” or “arisen”—implying a rebirth of spirit, strength, and hope through the worship of Lord Vishnu. That is why Utpanna Ekadashi is also known as Mahadvadasi, a period of profound spiritual renewal.

Origins and Mythological Significance: Utpanna Ekadashi 2021

    The Legend of King Abhakara

It is the legend of King Abhakara, a pious king whose kingdom became victim to drought, famine, and mental despair. He had worshipped Lord Vishnu and followed Utpanna Ekadashi with total dedication. At that time, Vishnu appeared before him and showered the kingdom with peace, prosperity, and rain.

This myth motivates us to see Utpanna Ekadashi as an inspiration for personal renewal, social peace, and communal betterment.

    Cosmic Congruence in 2021

Utpanna Ekadashi in 2021 occurs on favourable astrological positions, particularly Jupiter transit and waxing gibbous Moon. These add to the spiritual energy of rebirth, prosperity, and purifying by devotion to Lord Vishnu.

Astroeshop astrologers affirm that unassuming fasting and authentic rituals on Utpanna Ekadashi in these celestial hours can enormously enhance inner knowledge, fortune, and equilibrium.

How to Practice Utpanna Ekadashi 2021 Properly

    1. Preparation and Sankalpa

Begin the morning almost at sunrise with a purifying bath, ideally in Ganga water.

Wear clean, light-colored apparel—ideally saffron or white.

Face east or north, light a lamp, and utter a sankalpa aloud:

“I vow to observe Utpanna Ekadashi vrat with dedication, to purify my mind and soul.”

Astroeshop offers personalised sankalpa mantras from your birth chart for added spiritual energy.

    2. Observing the Fast

The two fasts allowed are Nirjala (nothing, not even water or food) or Phalahar (milk, fruits, vrat food).

Don’t use onion, garlic, alcohol, and all tamasic food.

Be silent or reflect before talking to maintain the energy, peace and centre.

By remaining pure, you provide the cosmic channels of grace with a way in and establish powerful inner alignment.

    3. Pooja and Worship Rituals

Set up an altar with photos or statues of Lord Vishnu—ideally Narayana or Krishna form.

    Offer these items:

    • Tulsi leaves, favourite
    • Rice, milk, and flowers
    • Ghee lamp (diya)

    Chant:

“Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya,” ideally 108 times

Or use the shorter “Om Utpanna Vishnave Namah”

Astroeshop can provide Vishnu pooja kits, tulasI malas, and guidance to make your worship easy and respectful.

    4. Charity and Seva—The Heart of Utpanna Ekadashi 2021

Charity is the essence of Utpanna Ekadashi:

Donate rice, clothing, blankets, cooking gas or other essentials to the needy.
